Hi,
I am having similar problems, and unfortunately, the advice given so far won't help.

I tried to intall reader 8.0.
I get:
Adobe Reader 8 Installer Information
Error 1714. The older version of Adobe Reader 8 cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.

If I try to reinstall 6.0, I get:
Adobe Reader 6.0.1 Installer Information
Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate.

If I try to reinstall 7.0, i get:
Adove 7.0 Install:
Windows Installer
This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package

I have uninstalled and deleted EVERYTHING related to adobe on my computer including the registry. Same results as above continue!

HELP!!!
