MarkATS said: "Get Info on the Reader application and under the plug-ins section, uncheck the item called Updater.acroplugin." This worked for me after a week of nothing but crashes. No more crashes on Reader 8.0 on a PowerPC G4 dual processor running 10.4.8 as administrative user.
