There are a number of us who have been trying to advise people on solutions to this issue. I have been there and can say that it is not as difficult as one might think. You MUST uninstall ALL of the Reader components for every version before installing Reader 8. This is my experience and it has worked for others. The use of Add/Remove Programs is a fine first part. Now to the real work. Adobe does not remove the actual folders that are associated with Reader. For that matter there are a number of references in the Registry that must come out too. How Adobe overlooked this I have no idea. WARNING-editing the Registry is dangerous. Do it at your own risk!!! There are many entries that will be easily recognized as "Adobe" in the various parts of the Registry. They all need to be removed to get a clean slate as it were. I recommend using any one of the either Free programs (Crap Cleaner for one) or Ashampoo's WinOptimizer (Free trial-and reasonably priced for full version). These programs along with other commercial solutions will help get all of the junk off your machine. Again-editing the Registry is Dangerous-you do it at your own risk! Be sure to make a backup of the Registry and do a Restore Point as well. Once this task is completeed you can then download the full package (~20.8megs in size) and save it to your hard drive. Then install it. Hope this helps.
