Adobe Reader 8 confusing issue

We are having an issue whenever we load up a document with over 100 form fields that are set to read-only; adobe will open the document and give this error:

Cannot save form information.

Please note, you cannot save a completed copy of this form on your computer. If you would like a copy for your records please fill it in and print it.

We are using just the standard download of Adobe Reader 8; and when we have a form field with 99 or less fields that are set to read-only, the error no longer shows up. We are curious if this is a bug, or if this is some sort of adobe protocol for 100 fields that is causing the issue.
