I have this same problem- I cannot use the upgrade from 7 I had -- and wont uninstall or download 8

just keeps saying "The patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

now says that cant remove the older version of 8 so guess ti is there, but wont uninstall anything and dosent show in my list of programs.

I need help ASAP pleas as I cant do my taxes or anything and it just keeps freezing the web site as trying to open my reader...
