I have the same problem in Windows XP MCE SP2. Both Reader 7.08 and Acrobat 7.08 give the same message for common fonts such as Times-Roman. Another computer with XP Pro SP2 and the same set of installed fonts does not have this problem.

When I display document properties/Fonts, the OK machine shows the original fonts and font types. On the MCE machine with the problem, these fields display as "unknown" and the corresponding text portions of the document are blank (although the text can be selected and copied).

I'd like to believe there is some global font substitution parameter that is set wrong, but I have been unable to find it. I'm using Bitstream Font Navigator 5.0.0 on both systems.

Any ideas?
