I have several User Accounts on my WinXP Pro system. I uninstalled Adobe Reader (AR) 7.0 and installed AR 8.0 all while in my Account. Now AR works in every User Account except mine. When I start AR in my Account, the mouse curser changes to an hourglass for a very short time and then nothing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it a couple of times, and I have deleted the preference files in my Application Data directory. (Oh, I’m sorry, I should say “folder” not “directory.” I have never completely left DOS behind.) When I start AR again, it still does not start, and the folders are not recreated as Adobe’s Troubleshooting page suggest it would do.
