      Use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool to remove all vestiges of the
      older programs.




Actually, it doesn't do anything more than remove a couple of registry entries.

Use Add/Remove programs to remove everything, starting with the Acrobat 6 updates, then reinstall Acrobat Pro 8.
