Unable to download by Adobe Download Manager via proxy

Adobe Download Manager launched, but downloading won't start. :-(

with
- NO DEFAULT GATEWAY
- no NAT
- via proxy server (REQUIRED in my network)

Then I tried to set ANY address for default gateway, It will work.

    > route add 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 (any address in my subnet)

Can't I download without default gateway?
