I realize I have sinned by using Foxit as my default. I now want to make Adobe 8 my default, since the Vanguard, TurboTax, Smith Barney websites require it (it's tax time!). I used Control Panel>Folder Options>File Types to switch default to Adobe, but only individual PDF files were apparently affected by this, ie, when I click on a link at the Vanguard website (eg, for my 1099), the screen opens up in Foxit, not Adobe. I had expected to find a "choose Adobe as my default reader" switch somewhere on the Adobe menu, but can't find one...where is it, please? I use XP/SP2, Firefox and IE.

I don't know why they would require Adobe's version. I was able to fill in IRS Form 1040 using Foxit Reader.

David...agreed, but it doesn't work. My 1099's are all blank forms at Vanguard using Foxit, but their IT folks can see all the numbers by using Adobe (and other folks are experiencing the exactly same thing at Vanguard). And my bank can't deal with Foxit at all (eg, there's no point to emailing me my monthly statement unless I use Adobe).

In Firefox: Tools | Options | tab Applications; find 'Adobe Documents' and 'Adobe Forms Documents', then set the application to 'Use Acrobat (in Firefox)' or 'Use Adobe Reader'.

Pat....you must be the only person in the world who knows that; many thanks!
