Gerard,

Assuming you using windows go to the control panel for Add/Remove programs. If
you left both Acrobat and Reader on your system, then uninstall both, then
re-install Reader.

I tried that initiaaly before posting the problem. However, when I go into Add/Remove programs there is no button to remove them. There are buttons to remove other programmes. I have an up to date Norton protection centre suite running and have no virus etc. I tried to delete the Adobe files through the file manager and it won't allow me to.
I am running Windows XP Professsional Version 5.1 with service pack 2.
Before I downloaded the trial version I could read pdf files, now even though the trial has expired I keep being prompted to buy version 7.0.
I can open a pdf if I right click and "open with...." [Reader]. which means I cannot duoble click on an email attachment that is in pdf and open it. I have to save it then "open with..."
Thanks for the assistance
