Just installed Windows XP PRO on a PC with 512Meg. After Downloading Adobe Reader 7.0.8 Installer without any problems the execution failed with the following error message: "Create an association in the Folder Options Control panel" Why would I get this message and how can I correct this problem?

Did you previously have something called "Adobe Download Manager", and
delete it?

Ah, but did you EVER have it? These symptoms suggest you once had
Adobe products, and wiped them out without uninstalling properly.
Somehow, Adobe's web site THINKS you still have Adobe Download
Manager, but you don't; it offered you something that only works if
you do have it.

Alternatively, you had the file to install Adobe Download Manager, but
never installed it.

One thing you can do is look in Add/Remove Programs. Do you see Adobe
Download Manager there?

Alternately, you can try and download the actual installer for the application at the FTP site.

ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/7x/7.0.8/enu/AdbeRdr708_en_US.exe

Fresh install of Windows XP SP2 with pretty much nothing installed.

Went looking for Acrobat Reader and all it offers me is the AOM, at least when i use Firefox. Works fine with internet explorer. The closest thing to an adobe product i have is the flash player that automatically installed or came with Firefox.
