Adobe Reader 9 - Extremely slow to open a pdf

I just upgraded from Adobe Reader 8 to Adobe Reader 9. I use Windows XP and Internet Explorer. When I try to open a pdf, it takes about a minute to open. This never happened with the previous versions.

Why is this happening? What can I do? Reinstall?

I suspect you are using Reader 9.0. Upgrading to 9.1 should fix the problem.
