I have not been able to use Adobe Reader for over 4 months. Originally I had version 6 that worked just fine until, out of the blue, it wouldn't read a pdf file and gave me an error message that said "Acrobat failed to load it's Core DLL" I tried to find what the Core DLL was, I contacted tech support with my laptop (Toshiba) and tech support with Microsoft (Windows XP), search Adobe site, search internet software support sites and google. I've found nothing that even talks about a Core DLL. I then thought that I would uninstall the program through Add/Remove Programs and then download it again from the Adobe web site, didn't work, I removed Ver 6 the same way and installed Ver. 7, didn't work. I read on Acrobat's help page that when removing a problem program, first go through Add/Remove programs and click on repair the program, reboot, go the Add/Remove and then remove it, reboot and then download the new version. I did all of this and I still get the same error message. Does anyone know how I can get Adobe Reader to work on my laptop again?
THANKS

Acrobat is looking for a core Windows DLL. I've only seen this error on NT4, so I'm surprised to see it on XP. Only way I know to fix it is to remove and reinstall Windows SP2, or reinstall Windows.

Was Acrobat 6 ever able to run on this computer? If so, any idea what changed?
