Adobe Reader completely disables my internet in several ways

My problems began after opening a PDF online and recieving the usual update available stuff. I updated to what I don't know. I think 6.x. After that download selecting a link that was a PDF shut down my IE6. I lived with that for awhile until I really needed a link so I searched for a cause. I tried updating to 7.0.8 and it did the same thing, complete and instant shutdown of IE6. After asking some questions and doing some reading I tried updating to IE7. It caused the same instant crash. I un-installed and re-installed both my IE7 and Acrobat Reader 7.0.8. Same problem. Then after some searching online and on the Adobe website I found an obscure reference to my problem. It said the solve was to do an update while I had the reader open. Can you imagine that this problem exists and they don't let you know when downloading the newest upgrade? Well, since my IE wouldn't open a PDF, I had to find the executable and open it. I did the update and hooray everything seemed fine. IE7 opens the PDF beautifully. But when I choose another tab it instantly shuts down IE. Since downloading 7.0.8 I noticed a dramatic slowdown of my Internet. Sometimes completely stopping browsers and other programs. I opened task manager and discovered that AcroRd32.exe is constantly running and is a memory hog. I hadn't even opened a PDF since rebooting. I uninstalled all Adobe products and now my Internet Explorer has returned to normal and all is well.

I'm so sick and tired of troubleshooting this software, myself, that I have now decided to make Adobe an offer: When you test this software in the real world and it actually works and these problems have been completely cleared up, e-mail me and assure me that my specific problems have been solved and I will try again. Otherwise I will gladly do without, FOREVER.

Evan,

MSIE 7 is beta software. There are known bugs concerning compatibility with
Acrobat and Adobe Reader. Since it is beta software it is up to MS to fix
compatibility with existing apps. There is no way for Adobe to try to fix things
since MSIE 7 is a moving target. Any fixes Adobe might generate could be broken
by the next beta release.

If you will notice Mike I was running IE6 when the problem started. And it started after I finally relented and allowed Adobe to update my Acrobat Reader. The move to IE7 was a last ditch effort at solving the existing problem. I am having problems with IE7 already with one firewall program. And I do think that I have determined that the slow condition was caused by that program. IE7 just enhanced that problem with the firewall. Gee the more complex IE gets the worse off the typical user is. Can't you guys get together and only make releases when your software, software almost everyone in the world uses, can exist in complete compatibility? It seems logical.

yea you should really check the temp files for the hogging. as for the opening PDF i would try in firefox, if that generates the error as well.
