I just recently reformatted my HDD. When I try to install Adobe Reader 7.0 I get this.

"The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel."

I hit ok and get.

"Last Error 1155".

Hit ok again and get this error

"Unable to launch AOM File. CreateProcess return code 10479172".

Can't seem to find anything in your FAQ's on this, any idea where I can go to fix it?

Mark,

Did you figure it out yet? I'm having the same exact problem.

I just submitted the question through support email. Hopefully I'll get an answer soon. It says it takes about 2 business days. I'll let you know.

Is there a support e-mail address? What is it?

I sent my question through a form on their site, but I ended up getting a reply saying that they don't answer emails about technical issues. They said they do have a support line for PAYING customers, though... so I guess we'll just have to wait and hope someone will answer our question here.

the reason you are getting the error is because the Adobe Download Manager cannot find a program to associate with in order to launch and download the Reader. You can bypass this by downloading directly from the ftp site. Use this address: <http://tinyurl.com/lcfvv>
When you go to that site you will immediately be prompted with a file download box. You can choose Run but I recommend saving it to your desktop and then running the Reader install from there. good luck!

I've gotten the same issue. This is really dumb. A major piece of software that people can't even install and Adobe won't help you? Why offer it for free then?

Did some searching and found that you can download the full version by going to Adobe's ftp site:

ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/7x/7.0/enu/AdbeRdr70_enu_full.exe

you should be able to pull that url up in a web browser and just download it that way too. It worked for me, anyway.

Or you can get the latest version 7.0.8 at: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/7x/7.0.8/enu/AdbeRdr708_en_US.exe

Thanks, Gene. You really helped me after 3 days of frustration. Finally I was able to install Reader successfully.
