Just use the Window menu in Reader to tile the documents. Aandi Inston

Hi I have experienced a problem with Acrobat Reader 6.0 and several PDF files open at the same time. In the Window menu in Acrobat Reader, the names of the PDF files are not displayed in the list of the open Windows. Is there a solution to have the names of the PDF files displayed in the list of the active windows?

What do you see instead of the list of open documents? Aandi Inston

I see the symbol that points to the current window and the window number and nothing else. I deal with about 200 000 PDF files stored in about 51000 sub-folders. When there is only one PDF file in a sub-folder, the name of the PDF file is not displayed (it seems but perhaps not 100% true) and when several PDF files in a sub-folder, the name is displayed correctly for each PDF file (same assumption).

>I see the symbol that points to the current window and the window number and nothing else. Does the window have a title? That is the child window within Adobe Reader. (If the child window is maximized, tile first). Aandi Inston

Aandi, All the PDF files have no title. Sometimes the window has a title that is the name of the PDF file. To answer your question, if one entry of the list of the windows is blank, the window has no title.

Ok, so they agree with one another at least. Suppose you copy a file with no title onto your desktop and open it from there. Does it now have a title? Aandi Inston

Andi,
One new element in our discussion.
I am working in parallel on accessing PDF files from VBA Access and I have just noticed that after the following instructions:
-----------------------------------------------
'Start Acrobat in the background
Set AcroApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
'Uncomment the following line if you want to watch the program run
AcroApp.Show
------------------------------------------------
If I try to open one of my previous PDF files with nothing in the title of the window, now the title of the window is correct and the name of the PDF file is displayed in the list of the open windows (menu window).
In fact with this VBA Access procedure, the program Acrobat.exe is launched and the display are corrects. In the contrary the program AcroRd32.exe is launched with no display associated.
Is it correct?

Andi, Acrobat.exe seems to be an Adobe Acrobat 5.0 release that works fine with the title of the windows and the display of the PDF filenames.
