Hi there,
Anyone tell me if Adobe Reader 7.0.8 should be able to open a *.pdx file please?.

I recently downloaded a bunch of Dreamweaver PDFs and it's amongst those called index.pdx. Currently I can't open it with Adobe Reader. It has a similiar icon to the regular *pdf icon.

After searching for the extension I see it is an Acrobat Catalog Index file and an image editing app called Mayura Draw uses the *.pdx file extension.

It's no big deal as everything works fine otherwise, I can still create, read, edit *pdf files etc, I'm just curious?.

Regards, Andy.

No, Reader can't directly open a PDX.

It can *use* a PDX file as part of a collection of files and folders;
you can use it for searching. You have to have the entire original
collection. The PDX file is used to control searching, though it
doesn't contain the index itself.

Hi Aandi,
Thanks for the reply, that makes sense as the file is called dw_index.pdx, theres also a folder called dw_index.

Do you know if it's possible to stop the indexing?, for some reason the indexing service in office 2003 comes to mind? lol!

Regards, Andy.

The indexing isn't dynamic; the index will be distributed already
built. So there is no overhead unless you use it to search.
