I've got the following system:
Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP3
Internet Explorer 7
Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard
Adobe Reader 9

When clicking a PDF link on a web page I get a message which says:
<< The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running cannot be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again.

      > Obviosly the necessary plug-ins related to Reader 9 have not been properly
installed in IE 7 and IE 7 only recognises Acrobat 6, what am I supposed
to do?, deinstall Acrobat 6?. I've also tryed to deactivate the IE add-ons
which have to do with PDF documents but it doesn't work either.

Reader 9 and Acrobat 6 are an unsupported combination. I suggest you
either remove Reader 9 and re-install Acrobat 6, remove Acrobat 6 and
re-install Reader 9, or remove them both and install Acrobat 9.

I've had exactly the same problem as soon as I have installed Reader 9.
Isn't there a simpler fix instead removing Acrobat?

Windows Vista Ultimate SP1
IE7
Adobe Reader 9.0.0
Adobe Acrobat 8.1.2

Is it possible to downgrade to Reader 8? It would be easier to me.

You should ot attempt to have Reader and Acrobat on the same Windows
computer.
