Endless Loop...

I just installed Reader 9.

When I try to open a pdf located on my PC, an email, or the web, the reader starts up, closes and then I get a dialog asking if I want to open the file, save it, or cancel.

If I click "Open". the dialog closes and the above process repeats.

If I open a reader window, I can drag a file into it and read it.

Using the browser option works but I don't want that.

I'm running WinXP/SP2.

Any ideas?

I would uninstall and use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup to remove an
registry residue. Then turn off any virus protection and/or spyware
protection software and try to re-install Reader.

Mike thanks for the help. Unfortunately it didn't help.

<ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/7x/>

The enu versions are the universal English versions.
