Can read a PDF after installing Master Collection

I installed the Master Collection on my MAC, now I can't open a pdf. I've tried downloading the latest reader but I'm still receiving the message that I don't have compatible software to open the pdf. I've also drug 8 to the trash can, thinking there is a conflict. Any clues?

What version of the Master Collection? It should have installed Acrobat Pro. Mike
