PDF Password Error

I have been receiving password protected pdf pay stubs from my employer since last August. The last one I received on Tues and opened it on Wed. Sat I attempted to open it again and received the following error message:

The password is incorrect. Please make sure that Caps Lock is not on by mistake, and try again.

The Caps Lock is not on. I attempted to open other pay stubs that had been previously opened with the same password and received same error message.

Searched the forums and found another individual with what sounds like the same problem but there was no fix listed.

Operating Sys - Vista 32-bit
I am not able to look at the file properties because the files are attachments to an email message stored in my Outlook.

Any help greatly appreciated.
