Adobe Reader 9.1 Crashes when opening 2 pdfs

When I open 1 pdf file with the reader, it is fine and works normally. However as soon as I attempt to open another one, it crashes. I am using windows vista 32 bit

I get the same issue if I double click on one PDF file on my drive and then double click on a second PDF file also on my drive, the second one does not open and eventually I get an error message saying that Adobe reader has encountered a problem and will close. If I use File=> Open then I can open as many PDF files as I wish with no problems
