I have a new PC running Vista 64 bit. When I tried to view a pdf doc in a web page I get a warning message that I need Adobe Reader 8 or 9. The PC has 9 already installed which opens just fine by itself. So to fix the problem I was going to uninstall/reinstall Adobe Reader 9 but when I go to the uninsall utility in Windows all I get is the "prparing to uninstall message" and nothing happens. Any ideas?

Don't try to uninstall, try to repair the installation---under the help menu. Mike

Thanks Mike. I tried that and it tried to fix the installation for a while and then came back with a message "Install server not responding". Any other ideas?? All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Doug

Try from Add/Remove Programs, with the 'Change' button.

Hi Doug, If you know about the "event viewer" utility for Windows it might be able to shed more light on why this error is happening. You mentioned you are trying to open the pdf in a web browser. Since you are using a 64 bit Operating system and 64 bit adobe application did you verify that you are using a 64 bit web browser and not 32 bit web browser?
