Thanks Dave, Peter and Rob, First of all, I'm supprised there is no such facility in ID scripting (maybe Adobe will listen and add it). Placing an image, getting it's geometric bounds is time consuming. The images are large, and my script places several images per page. So placing a large image, finding which of the many images on the page has just been placed is not easy, and as I have said it's a large file. In total, I place about 600 images! The best way it seems, is to parse the EXIF header of the file, and get the orientation, width and height from it. This would avoid opening the image, and placing then deleting the image just to get this info. Rob suggestion is a good one, but it's not free. Is there any other way to get this info from the EXIF from inside pure VB without resorting to commercial softwares? Or better still, ask Adobe to include such a facility in the next upgrade. There is one more possibility. Use an external script that goes trough a folder of images, and from the EXIF header mark-up the file. That is, rename the file by say adding a bracket to the file name, and inside it write R90 to indicate the file should be rotated 90 degrees right. Then an ID script can parse for the bracket (or brackets), and use their contents to place and rotate the image. As it is, I'm still looking for an easy solution, which does not rename the file, involve a commercial software, or one which place 600 images which need to be deleted afterwards. Thanks for your efforts, Bill
