Extra line breaks when deleting lines

Hello,

I've got a TextFrame filled with many paragraphs / lines of text. As a
result, the text frame overflows, as indicated with a + sign on the
frame. Now, I delete the first line (or paragraph, there's no
difference) of the TextFrame. The remaining lines all move one line
up, and one extra line becomes visible in the frame. However, only
half of the new line appears. The other half stays invisible, because
there now is an extra break approximately halfway the line.

Does anybody know why this extra break is added, and how I can prevent
it? I have all the lines correctly formatted. They don't extend, as
far as I can see, past the textframe right margin. Why does InDesign
mess up my formatting?

Regards, Beat Niderst
