KerningValue cannot be read from insertion point

Hi there -

the problem is, that I cannot get any value for KerningValue (see code
snippet) when working with InsertionPoints... (<Method KerningValue
failed for InsertionPoint>) Any other properties cause no problems.

    ...
    ...
    Set mySelection = myInDesign.Selection.Item(1)    
    myType = TypeName(mySelection)
    
    If (myType = "InsertionPoint") Then
        mFontStyle = mySelection.FontStyle
        mPointSize = mySelection.PointSize
        mLeading = mySelection.Leading
        mKerningMethod = mySelection.KerningMethod
        mKerningValue = mySelection.KerningValue ' <<<<<<<<< ???
    End If
    ...
    ...
