Even though I'm philosopically against varying character shapes from line to line, your idea is pretty neat.<g> But there are some problems.... 

Our is that InDesign doesn't particularly deal with Multiple Master fonts--so almost all of your work would need to be done via ATM. The trouble there is that you'd need to talk with the ATM API via C++ using the ATM SDK (Software Development Kit)--and that's pretty much outside the scope of this forum. 

Another is that Multiple Master fonts are headed the way of the dinosaur, and that I'm loth to encourage anyone to use them as I believe that they will be unsupported at some point in the future. Whenever a software company says, "We will continue to support product X, but we will not be making new versions of product X," it tends to mean, in plain English, "product X is dead." This might not be the case this time--but I've been around the industry for awhile, and the above has always been the way things work. 

In any case, I can show you how to do points 1, 2, and 3, but 4 is going to be very difficult. Would you still like me to create an example script?
