You've got the idea.  Instead of your notion of "counting," I usually describe it like this: 

set the myCounter variable to the number of items in the list.  Now loop over the following code, subtracting one from myCounter every time you get to the top of the loop.  Stop looping (and go through the code for the last time) when myCounter gets to 1.
