You're right, it is in the guide, but I'm 99.95% sure that it is an error. For example: 

tell application "InDesign 2.0.1" 
�get index of insertion point 1 of selection 
end tell 

works, while:  

tell application "InDesign 2.0.1" 
�get offset of insertion point 1 of selection 
end tell 

won't compile. It gives a syntax error.
