Having achieved a working script for vertical tabulation using ID tables, I've come up against an unexpected problem that might have something to do with ID stacks, but at any rate looks like some kind of internal limitation. 

Here's what I'm doing: 

1. A series of paragraphs is given paragraph styles <vtab1>, <vtab2>, <vtab3>, etc, each style having an indent left and an indent right.
 
2. The script creates a table cell and sizes it according to the style indents and moves the paragraph into the cell.
 
3. The script looks for a terminating style which completes the table. 

All seems to work perfectly (if slowly) until we come to the 39th 4-cell table, when the script just gives up. Running from the VB environment no errors are reported. 

I wouldn't imagine that ID has a limitation of 39 tables per document, but I have no idea how scripting would handle this. I would have thought that once a table was created any buffer it was held in would be purged ready for the next one? 

Any ideas?
