I think you want either: 

Rem To add the new column before the first column in the table 
myTable.Columns.Add(idBefore, myTable.Columns.Item(1)) 
Rem Or... 
Rem To add the new column after the last column in the table. 
myTable.Columns.Add(idAfter, myTable.Columns.Item(myTable.Columns.Count)) 
 

Right? It also seems to me that we should be able to do this without creating the table one column at a time--that is, without having to use Columns.Add to add a column. I'd probably just use Table.ColumnCount to set the number of columns.
