Thanks for your opinions. 

Unfortunately the script does not work if I change line(s): 

select myInsertionPoint 
paste  

to: 

set contents of myInsertionPoint to myTracks 

...so it seem that I have to stick with clipboard/paste (which method seems to be poison to everybody!).
