Good question. The reason has to do with layering. Assuming a single-layer document, on your page all non-master-page items sit in front of all master page items. But when you override a master page item, it moves to the front of all page items. So far so good. But when you start dealing with multi-layer documents, overriding will bring it to the front of the active layer, and that can make tracking its position more complicated. So I prefer to move it where want it myself. -- Shane Stanley, sstanley@myriad-com.com.au
