Am I dreaming or can this be done? It can be done. Here's a simple example that assumes you have an InDesign document open with a whole lot of pages all containing a frame labelled "Name", and a database open, also with a field named "Name": tell application "FileMaker Pro" set recCount to count of records of database 1 end tell repeat with i from 1 to recCount tell application "FileMaker Pro" tell database 1 set theName to cell "Name" of record i end tell end tell tell application "InDesign 2.0.1" tell document 1 set contents of text frame "Name" of page i to theName end tell end tell end repeat The big differences between this approach and Xcatalog -- or InCatalog, for InDesign -- are (a) speed, and (b) X/InCatalog maintains live links, so you can later update things more quickly and easily. Both methods have their place. -- Shane Stanley, sstanley@myriad-com.com.au
