Perhaps I'm approaching this the wrong way. 

Whereas the 'place in spread 1' crashes are disturbing, I'm just doing some basic experimentation to try and find my way around ID scripting. What I'd really like to do is import tagged text into a text frame as I do in Quark. 

From an existing Quark script: 

 if not (head = "") then 					make text box at beginning with properties {bounds:{"3�mm", "-106.6�mm", "33�mm", "3�mm"}, color:"Yellow", shade:13, vertical justification:top justified, name:Heading_Box} 					tell text box Heading_Box 						set story 1 to alias (tempfilepath) 					end tell --tell box 				end if  

  With any luck doing it this way might avoid the crashes.
