To pick up on Cliff's point about performance, I can see that running scripts from inside a REALbasic application is slower than from ID's script palette.

How much slower? I'd have to run a timing test, but I have a script that converts the selection to lowercase and then applies the character style "Small Caps." When run from ID, the intermediate step is not displayed but when run from RB it is -- for an instant, I see the lowercase letters.
