Is it right that when I ask for the class of the selection, I get the class of the first item in the list when multiple items are selected? I was hoping to get "list" in that case. Still, I can get at the info I want by checking the count: tell application "InDesign 2.0.1" set theClass to class of selection end At this point, class of theClass yields the class of the first item in the list but count of theClass yields the count of the selected items. Somehow, this doesn't feel right. Dave
