Ole: If you're talking about limiting an executable to only running one copy, you may be thinking about ActiveX EXE & DLL's which can have the class object flagged as SingleUse, MultiUse, etc. (check the instancing property of a class). If that's what you're referring to - I don't think it will help for j's question, since I expect that he's working with a standard EXE. AFAIK, the PrevInstance property & the code I showed is the 'accepted' way of handling the problem. If there is a simpler compilation option - I'd be interested in hearing about it! -- Greg
