How were these images originally saved to get them in the PDF format? I made a file in Photoshop CS that I saved as a PDF, opened it in Acrobat 6 and then saved as a tiff and I was unable to duplicate your problem. Is this just an image you are working with or is it something that came out of another program used for something like page layout or word processing (ie QuarkXpres, Indesign, Word). Also, you might want to click on settings at the bottom of your save dialog box and make sure Acrobat isnt doing anything funky based on special settings.
