Illustrator holds the corner on the vector medium. It's inexcusable that the basic function of transforming bitmap to vector would be ignored. I've used AI since '91, and need to boot up my ancient Streamline (and OS9) every time. BUT, it won't handle large, hi-rez bitmaps to create accurate vector images anymore. Hence, it's worthless. This comes up about once a month... so I end up rebuilding everything from scratch. Unbelievable!!
