Is Adobe going to upgrade Streamline for OSX Panther and Photoshop CS compatible? We scan images through Photoshop CS and have to save as a pict file to load them into streamline. Also, classic is going to be phased out one of there days.

HI,
I have exactly the same question, same case, same problem.
So I am hoping for an answer very soon.
Thank you,

just recently purchased a new g5 and of course, it's not loaded with a classic environment, nor does it support classic macos.

use streamline frequently and would love to have it on osx.

so that's three votes... definitely enough interest to warrant creating an osx version! heh.

Forget building Streamline as an OS X application. Shouldn't the features of this software have been built into Illustrator a long time ago?

I believe Corel has had "Streamline" built into it CorelDraw for some time now. If so, you're past-due to catch-up Adobe!

Our two computer labs (45 computers) will be upgrading to G5s by September and we use Streamline extensively for creating logotypes, creating digital fonts and basically turning raster images into vector images to use in Illustrator. Either upgrade Streamline to OS X.2 and later or include all the features of Streamline into Illustrator...but please don't drop this very important product.

Totally agree with the above comments. We have over 60 Macs, G4s mostly and will be re-imaging for Fall classes. Would love to scrap having to load Classic and just go with OSX. Streamline's the last product we have that uses Classic. Wake up Adobe and either embed the features into Illustrator CS or update the product!

Actually, as a CorelDraw as well as an Adobe CS user, I can tell you that CorelTrace IS NOT built into CD, but is still a stand alon utility. It seems to work better with Illustrator than CD..???!!!

Go figure.......@@@?????!!!

I have been keeping an eye on the forum for a while now. I'm guessing that there is a licensing issue involved here, but what I find curious is that no one from Adobe has posted anything that would give Streamline users some clue as to what's going on. Hard to believe that they don't know of people's interest, as there must be Adobe employees who look through the forums for one reason or another.

Couldn't someone at Adobe at least say something about the situation with Streamline development?

Even anonymously? Come on, how hard could it be?

I too enjoy using Streamline and would love to see it updated. Was at an Adobe CS event yesterday and asked the rep about Streamline - she indicated that the best to ensure this would happen is to be sure and send in user feedback, the forum is not enough as they don't always look here.

I have been taking every opportunity over the last year or so to corner Adobe staff on this matter at exhibitions, seminars, etc. The result is usually a shrug of the shoulders in most cases and a promise to mention it "back at the ranch".

I recently wrote to Adobe Customer Services (UK) and here is their reply:

Thank you for your recent enquiry.

Unfortunately, while the Illustrator team recognizes that the need to
vectorize graphics is a integral part of our customers' workflows, at this
time, there is no current or planned development on Adobe Streamline.

Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact
us.

Yours sincerely,

GOOD NEWS!

First let me say I DO NOT WORK FOR ADOBE.

But I was at an Adobe conference recently in Australia where they were showcasing Adobe CS. Anyway I figured, what the hell, so I quized one of the Adobe reps during the break about Streamline. He stated there will be a 'solution' delivered some time next year. He said they still have all the code for Streamline and they're on the case. He couldn't say much about it. In fact he said if he told me anything he'd have to kill me. So I don't know what 'solution' means. Maybe a OSX version, maybe built into Illustrator. Who Knows. He did say next year meaning 2005 I guess. So not long to wait...

Spread the word.
