Scott Wow! I didn't expect a reply THAT quickly! I keep thinking that lots of people out there can instantly recall 100s/1000s of fonts without even breaking a sweat. What would be perceived as an acceptable amount of font knowledge? On a slightly different note There's something (else) that has been bugging me for a while. WHAT ARE THE BEST UNITS OF MEASUREMENT TO WORK IN? mm UK Standard in US Standard pt Type sizes p Column sizes px Web sizes Part of me says "Learn to work entirely in in/pt (especially as pt = px for web) you'll be better for it!" Another part says "Are you nuts? What about working out halves, thirds, etc of page sizes and general preparation?" I guess it all comes down to a conflict of interests. The general layout side of me favours one measurement, while the Typography/Web side favours another. I don't fancy changing preferences several times during a job. If anyone here works in pt/p/in which do you use and why? Come to think of it how about using the Golden Section & Fibonacci series? (Or am I taking things too far?) Does anyone else have a strange way of working? Also, why does Photoshop have cm but not mm to choose from (I haven't yet ordered v7!)? Many thanks (again) Wayne Andrews
