Yes, basically, it was a 2 row, 2 column table. The table width is set to 100%, and the height is auto.

For the top row, the left cell was set to a pixel width (whatever the width of the image was) and the height was auto. The right cell was set to be 100% horizontally (it's interpreted as 100% of the remaining space), and auto height.

For the bottom row, they'd get the same size settings as the top row, and the left cell should just have the top image, and the bottom image is really the background and should expand to however much text and content is added into the page in that main right area.

For the tiling left image, I didn't change the height of the image, I just cut it up differently so it would match up in the tiling to where the top image ended. Should be the same size image. That was the hardest part to figure out - had to put the 2 images side by side and figure out where to cut and shift. It'll probably make more sense if you open up that image file directly...

Yes, the problem was with the way Explorer renders spans. Don't know why, it's just funky that way.
