Character Styles Problem with XML import

Hi Everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me out with this.

InDesign CS - Windows 2000

I'm doing a massive import with XML - I have either character styles or paragraph styles applied to each of my place holders ( text boxes ). Once I re-import an XML file because of content updates all my styles are ignored. The content is just displayed at it's standard Times typeface.

Anyone have any clues? this is quite frustrating - as I'm doing this over hundreds of pages. If there is no fix it means re-applying each style to thousands of place holders. Not Cool.

Regards.
