What you are seeing on the monitor is not what will print, particularly if your monitor is not calibrated. Inks/CMYK generally look darker than the RGB counterpart. Monitors, TVs, inks and different printers are capable of producing only a limited range of what the human eye can see. They each have different 'gamuts' of the colors they can reproduce. Color shifts occur when you are trying to print a color that is outside of the printer's gamut, typically deep blues and greens. Here are a couple of links. Talk to your printer and get their advice on what they want for their press. <http://dx.sheridan.com/advisor/cmyk_color.html> <http://www.printingforless.com/rgb-cmyk.html>
