I did not agree with the startup charge; in fact, I almost didn't join because of it. They allowed me (I can't remember exactly how many) days to try the service and only then did I get charged. I wasn't saying that NEGIA is absolutely the best ISP in the area. I simply don't know this. I tried Interlinks and AthensNET. NEGIA is the best ISP in the area that I have tried to this day. They give me exactly what I want: 1) Stable, Fast Throughput 2) Stable, Fast News Server 3) Fair Price for the Area. I wish they included static IP's in their PPP accounts, though. :-) >* Their connection to the internet is very thin. They have VERY LITTLE >bandwidth, and absolutely not enough for their customers. This includes my roommate (this, we are >dialing from the same physical location, we have multiple lines, but its still >branching out from the same apt, etc). I'm sure that I transfer at or vey near my modem's capacity, as this was my main test to stay with NEGIA. I almost never get disconnected (when I do, it seems to be due to non-activity while I write an email or something similar). My throughput is surprisingly consistant. I wish Michael would post exactly what transfer rate he gets (3.0K/sec with 28.8 modem, etc.) rather than quoting he gets 20-25% faster connections than his roommate. This is completely meaningless. If NETCOM can give me transfer rates faster than a 28.8 modem can handle, I would certainly change my ISP. >* These are **SERIOUS** prodblems. None of which were addressed in your post >of blind support. My "blind support" was actually a succint answer to the original post. Mark did not ask for details in the post. I offered to provide greater detail on request. >There are hordes of other problems as well. I own an internet consulting >company, and I have researched this topic in incredible detail. In general, >I would LOVE to support a local ISP. However, if they aren't going to provide >services to compete with the national ISPs, then why waste the money? Is anybody else, other than Michael and his associates, having problems with NEGIA? Please post here. Thanks, Mathew
