If this is the same Micro Computer Center in the same Pinetree Plaza
then they've existed for about a millennium as compu shops go. I bought
my first pc from them in 1978 -- an Apple II. In those days their stock
consisted largely of smart (and dumb) terminals. Computers were a new
sideline. AppII's, Exidy Sorcerers, Sols, Commodore Pets, North Stars
(gorgeous, drool) and some other CP/M boxes that were far too expensive
for anybody not on a business budget. But the Apple was pretty nice
for its day and price. In a day when 4K was a system and 16K was a
BIG system it had 64K; and it ran UCSD Pascal while everyone else was
stuck with BASIC. I've never felt as far ahead of the mob since. (Though
I think I may have been the first in Athens to run reallyo-trulyo 32bit
Unix at home, circa 1988. At least there was no one else in the uucp
maps but me.)
If it's really the same Micro Computer Center they must have been
doing *something* right...
