This is NOT true. You just need to compile kernel with CONFIG_MATH_EMULATION and Processor Family as 486 or 386. I have Mandrake 6.0 running on a 386-SX with 4 MB ram as a ADSL (PPPoE) router/firewall with kernel 2.2.17. System uptime is 48 days and the reason for last reboot was kernel upgrade.
