mail accounts and PPP question

I have two problems that i would really appreciate some help with.

1. how do you receive mail from multiple email addresses in netscape
messenger?

2. how do i stop linux (mandrake 7.0) from automatically trying to start my
PPP connection on startup? on start up i get this error message: "Bringing
up interface PPP0: [FAILED] Failed to activate PPP0, retrying in
background."
Once KDE is started up and i try to start my PPP connection, i can't because
the modem is busy "retrying in the background"! now everytime i start up the
system, i have to enter interactive startup and tell it not to start the
network services. . . anyways, any help would, naturally, be most
appreciated.
